Research Theme: Nordic Countries' contribution to the development of Arctic law and regime & current trend of globalized Arctic governance.
Dr. CHENG is Senior Research Fellow with Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, whose major study fields cover global governance and international & European law. He was visiting research fellow on arctic policy at SWP Berlin (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, 2012), CSIS (Center for Strategy and International Studies, Washington D.C., 2014) and Arctic Center (Lapland University, 2016). Dr. Cheng has published extensively on china’s policy development towards ocean/polar governance in some Chinese leading academic journals and newspaper and has also been invited to present his views on Arctic governance and cooperation at some international occasions such as the International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS), Arctic Shipping Forum, Arctic Circle Assembly, Arctic Frontiers Conference, China-Nordic Arctic Cooperation Conference, and China-Nordic Think-Tank Roundtable, etc.
